What's new in the Bertschi Group?

Bringing chemical products into Europe requires deep logistics expertise. Long distances, multimodal transport, customs, and strict regulatory requirements are all part of this intricate supply chain. Bertschi bridges this complexity with a proven network of global production connectivity, neutral multicolor import hubs, and a dense European infrastructure that ensures safe and sustainable delivery across the continent.

In 2015, Bertschi took a decisive step toward strengthening its people-focused culture by establishing a dedicated HR department at headquarters in Dürrenäsch, Switzerland. Until then, HR responsibilities were handled directly by business unit heads and members of senior management. The creation of an official HR function marked the beginning of a new chapter that would grow in step with the company itself.

As part of their commercial apprenticeship, Swiss apprentices are encouraged by their vocational school to spend several weeks abroad to strengthen their foreign-language skills. This year, we used that opportunity to offer an even more relevant experience: a four-week placement at one of our own subsidiaries.

For many Chinese chemical producers, entering the European market is a major step, coming with complex regulations, long transport routes, and unfamiliar logistics systems. Bertschi makes that transition smooth and efficient.

At Bertschi’s Rotterdam terminal, heavy machinery and towering stacks of containers define the landscape. In the middle of this activity sits a reach stacker, its operator confidently maneuvering containers. At first glance, most people expect to see a man behind the controls. But when the cab door opens, it’s Sascha who steps out. She’s a young woman who has carved her own path in this traditionally male-dominated world.

To celebrate the outstanding business achievements of Swiss companies in China and commemorate the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Switzerland and China, the Sino-Swiss Business Awards ceremony and gala dinner was grandly held in Beijing on August 27, 2025.

The global logistics service provider Bertschi is setting the course for the future. The third generation is gradually taking over responsibility for the strategic management of the Group. Hans-Jörg Bertschi, majority shareholder and Executive Chairman of the Board of Directors, will pass the torch to his three nephews Markus, Beat, and Jörg Berner in the coming years.

Bertschi Korea was founded around a year ago with great ambition and enthusiasm. Since then, it has made impressive strides.
