What's new in the Bertschi Group?

October 2024 – The Bertschi Group, market leader in intermodal chemical logistics, celebrates six decades of pioneering work in intermodal logistics. This anniversary coincides timely with the global push for sustainability. Today, intermodal freight transport is an essential means of sustainable and efficient transport for the chemical industry. But when Bertschi first put a chemical road tanker on a train in 1964, it was a groundbreaking innovation in Europe.

Bertschi’s dedication to building and maintaining strong, personal relationships with customers remains central to its approach. By combining state-of-the-art digital tools with a commitment to personalized service, Bertschi ensures logistics operations are both streamlined and responsive, offering the best of innovation and human connection.

Bertschi celebrated 25 years of successful operation at our container terminal G80 in ChemPark Leverkusen, Germany. It was also the ideal occasion to officially announce the implementation of our newly established integrated site logistics concept together with a global key account customer.

The Bertschi Customer Portal opens the door to the world of logistics for our customers, allowing them to manage their shipments easily and efficiently thanks to numerous innovative features. The introduction of the automatic ETA notification system in August 2023 marks an important milestone in Bertschi's digital transformation. This system not only optimizes internal communication, but also offers customization options to meet the different needs of our customers.

As part of a consortium of 10 members from the chemical and chemical logistics industry, Bertschi is a co-initiator of 'Women in Logistics (WIL)', the first industry-wide initiative to promote gender diversity and inclusion in the traditionally male-dominated logistics industry. Women in Logistics aims to drive meaningful change and promote an inclusive and diverse logistics industry through collaboration beyond competition.

Amongst the current threats to our industry, we can point out reduction of volume, costs increase, and price pressure from our customers. Yet again, challenging times carry opportunities and set the grounds for creative solutions.

Just a few months after the opening of our new hub in Zhangjiagang, China, Bertschi started the year with two significant moves that further expand our presence in key Asian markets. Our joint venture with the Uyeno Group in Tokyo and the opening of Bertschi Seoul allow us to deepen our presence and offer tailored solutions for the Japanese and Korean market.
