What's new in the Bertschi Group?

On June 13th global logistics service provider Bertschi celebrated the opening of a new plastics hub of more than 25,000 square meters, which is part of a bigger area called ‘Antwerp Zomerweg Terminal (AZT)’ and ideally located in the Port of Antwerp. Various value added logistics services are provided, such as transshipments, storage and distribution of imported overseas’ bulk plastics.

At this year’s LEO-Gala in Hamburg Hans-Jörg Bertschi was presented with the Award in the category ‘Lifetime Logistics Achievement’. The Prize honors his role in Switzerland’s rail based transit transport policy, the development of a European intermodal transport network as well as his accomplishments in successfully growing the Bertschi Group into a global chemical logistics player over the last 30 years.

The Bertschi Group can look back on an eventful and satisfying year 2017. With a positive outlook ahead, major investments into the future development of the company will be made also this year. A significant part is dedicated to the digitalisation of the transport chain. And as a reaction to the growing demand from its customers, Bertschi will also expand its logistics capacities. The company builds a new plastics-hub in Antwerp and a tank cleaning facility in Singapore, further expands the container fleet and increases office capacity at the headquarters in Dürrenäsch. The employees are at the core of Bertschi’s logistics services. At this year’s annual meeting of the employees in Dürrenäsch, a total of 115 jubilees coming from all over Europe were honored for their long-term commitment.

The Bertschi Group has appointed Jan Arnet (44) new CEO as of 1 August 2018. Hans-Jörg Bertschi (60), majority shareholder, Chairman of the Board and current CEO, will focus on the Chairmanship and on strategic projects for the Bertschi Group.

Last Saturday the Bertschi Transport GmbH Cologne celebrated its 40th anniversary with a big party. The organization - it is part of the chemical logistics company Bertschi - plays an important role in the intermodal transport chain on the north-south-axis and can look back with satisfaction on a successful development since its founding.

This week Bertschi added the 30’000th container unit to its fleet, coming just out of production. This milestone stands for the continuing success story of containerization and shows the impressive growth of the company, starting with its first container in 1970.

All Bertschi apprentices successfully passed their final exams - congratulations!

On May 26, a train loaded with 82 Bertschi ISO-tankcontainers began its long journey from Korla in Western China to Europe. The route, on which a distance of 8.000 kilometers and 7 countries are passed, is part of the project “One Belt, One Road” initiated by China.

Bertschi Global AG has won the Covestro Asia Pacific “Innovation in Transportation Safety” Award for its “Outstanding Initiative for Transportation Safety Improvement”. As part of the Safety Champion Program Covestro honors logistics service providers for outstanding initiatives in improving safety standards. With an innovative tank container design, Bertschi is setting new safety and efficiency standards for the global logistics of liquid chemical products.
