Opportunities in Colombia - a growing economy in Latin America
With over 50 million inhabitants, Colombia is one of the fastest-growing economies in Latin America. The country offers several advantages, including political stability, a strategically ideal geographical location, and several government reforms which helped to attract foreign investment. Major chemical companies have already shown their confidence in Colombia.
In November 2024, Bertschi attended APLA (Asociacion Petroquimica y Quimica Latinoamericana), to meet with customers and partners and to engage in discussions about opportunities in and out of Latin America. The growing number of attendees goes in hand with the increasing importance of the chemical market of Latin America as it connects to global markets without barriers.
We took this opportunity to establish a new partnership with ULS (United Logistics Service), part of FAM Team Group, to expand our blueprint in the region.
ULS was founded in 2020 as the logistics arm of FAM Group, a Colombian company based in Bogota, with operation in Cartagena, Barranquila, Santa Marta, and Buenaventura (Pacific Coast). ULS has a strong network and knowledge about the Colombian logistical market.
With our new setup, we can now offer chemical logistics services via both the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans, profiting from the rapidly developing infrastructure in the country.
During this trip, we also toured the main ISOtank depots in the region and learned more about this market, preparing ourselves to support our customers by introducing our global standards to the region. We’ve seen a promising development of the capabilities of our partners in Colombia. In recent months, we have steadily increased our presence with Bertschi ISOtanks in various Colombian ports.
We are confident that this new cooperation can support our customers to further intensify their exchange with this emerging country in South America.
Colombia adds a valuable piece to our Latin American puzzle, and we are optimistic about achieving sustainable growth in the region together with our global customers.
