20 years BERTSCHI terminal Lonza Visp – 250,000 containers transported by rail

On 4 July, an anniversary celebration attended by about 40 invited guests was held at the Lonza site in Visp. The 20-year partnership between Lonza and Bertschi at the transshipment terminal in Visp has made a significant contribution to the shift from road transport in favour of environmentally friendly combined transport, thus helping to streamline the logistics of Lonza’s largest production site globally.

On the occasion of the Aargau company award ceremony Bertschi received the prize for the best large company in the Canton Aargau. With this award, the jury honored in particular the entrepreneurial performance and innovative strength of the chemical logistics company from Dürrenäsch (AG).

On the occasion of the Aargau company award ceremony Bertschi received the prize for the best large company in the Canton Aargau. With this award, the jury honored in particular the entrepreneurial performance and innovative strength of the chemical logistics company from Dürrenäsch (AG).

Chemical logistics company Bertschi can look back on a positive 2018, having maintained its steady growth trajectory of recent years. The favourable economic climate paired with the company’s globalisation strategy enabled it to generate record turnover of CHF 960 million in 2018. The current earnings situation will allow Bertschi to make substantial investments into the future development of the company in 2019. Over the past few years, the Swiss family company has made major progress in terms of the digital transformation of its business processes. Jan Arnet took over as CEO of the Group in August.

Jan Arnet has taken over the operational management from Hans-Jörg Bertschi and is the new CEO of the Bertschi Group since 1 August 2018. We are pleased that a very experienced and reliable manager has come to the top and are convinced that he will drive forward the development of the Bertschi Group with much enthusiasm. Hans-Jörg Bertschi will focus on new market activities and strategic projects as Executive Chairman of the Board and keeps active in the company on a full-time basis. Jan Arnet’s successor, Santiago Gonzalez, starts in Dürrenäsch on 6 August 2018 and will head the BU Liquids. Michael Koch has already taken over the management of the subsidiaries Spain and Portugal based in Tarragona.

On June 13th global logistics service provider Bertschi celebrated the opening of a new plastics hub of more than 25,000 square meters, which is part of a bigger area called ‘Antwerp Zomerweg Terminal (AZT)’ and ideally located in the Port of Antwerp. Various value added logistics services are provided, such as transshipments, storage and distribution of imported overseas’ bulk plastics.
