Since the beginning of last year, CLBT Bologna, a Bertschi subsidiary, operates a 10,000m² central distribution center (CDC) for all goods produced by a customer in its nearby plants. The services provided here cover the entire supply chain, including loading of pallets with big bags and octabins at customer plants, transports to the warehouse including storage, picking and loading of products, and finally, distribution all over Italy and Europe. In addition, a slitting machine in the warehouse supports the repacking process from big bags to bulk, for a more efficient payload when it reaches the transport to customers.

This great feat was possible thanks to the efforts of the local team. It was a challenge to ensure the customer that the entire construction of the new warehouse will be completed in 4 months including a high rack, and required the creative and negotiation skills of our team involved. In addition, training the forklift drivers to navigate the narrow aisles in the warehouse was unusually challenging during Covid-19 restrictions, without the possibility to sit 2 persons in the same cabin simultaneously. However, the team pulled through, and everything worked out, including the first 40 trucks arriving shortly after the business started. Operations soared in record time, much to the high satisfaction of the customer.

Today, we have 20 operators employed for this particular business, and over 15 different kinds of forklifts that support them in their daily work. This cooperation and business will only increase, involving other business units of Bertschi as well. Our high level of skill, innovation, and reliability allows us to continue to develop complex logistics projects to reach all regions of Europe and the world.
